Importance of Tulsi Kanthi Mala!

Tulsi Kanthi Mala has great importance in Hinduism. It is worshiped as a sacred plant. According to the scriptures, Goddess Lakshmi resides in Tulsi. It is believed that when Goddess Lakshmi was born on earth as Radha Rani, Tulsi’s name was Vrinda, who was the wife of the demon Jalandhar, who was killed by Lord Vishnu. On this, Sati Vrinda, being sad and angry, cursed Lord Vishnu to stay on earth in the form of Shaligram i.e. Sheela. On this, Mother Lakshmi requested Vrinda to free her husband from the curse. Hearing his request, Goddess Vrinda freed Lord Vishnu every evening on the condition of being with her before she became sati. As soon as Goddess Vrinda became sati, a plant arose from her ashes, which Brahma ji named it Tulsi.
